The National Weather Service has the Santa Clarita Valley under a Red Flag Warning until 8 p.m. tonight, with Santa Ana winds still gusting and humidity in the single digits.

Winds peaked Friday and have been easing, but gusty northeast winds and very dry air keep the fire risk up through this evening. The NWS says any new fire start could still spread fast and behave erratically.

The warning lands days after the Bike Fire burned 172 acres near Sand Canyon. That fire is now 100 percent contained, but tonight is exactly the kind of evening one spark turns into the next one.

The Santa Anas have already knocked out power for more than 90,000 Southern California Edison customers across L.A. and Ventura counties, as the utility cuts electricity to lower the risk of equipment sparking a fire.

A few quick things for tonight:

Skip anything that sparks: no outdoor burning, no metal yard tools near dry grass, and don’t park on dry brush.

See smoke? Call 911 right away.

Charge your phone and keep a flashlight handy in case of shutoffs.

Have your go-bag where you can grab it. Ten minutes of prep is the cheapest insurance there is.

Winds keep easing tonight and through Sunday. Stay safe out there.
